THE FEAST OF THE ROSES

Every year, since 1921, GIVET is animated by the joyful passage of a parade of costumated children.

This feast takes traditionally place the last but one sunday of june and assembled the majority of the children of the nursery and primary schools of the town.

It's a joyful feast, colourful, animated, where the children are the heros !... They merit it, don't they ? ...


THE ONION FAIR

This commercial fair takes place every year the 11thof november. In majority situated in the "Notre Dame" quarter (little GIVET), it attracts thousands of visitors coming from all the region (and farther).

Every year, its success is ensured by the participation of about 450 commercials coming from all FRANCE.

The origin of the Onion Fair get back to 1530. During this period, a fair already took place the sunday before the Saint-Martin's day (today the 11th of november).


OTHER FESTIVALS

* THE CARNIVAL

It takes place every year in April and has a great success.


* FOOD AND DRINK TRADES AND WATER FESTIVALE

Organised on the quay of the Meuse, GIVET Saint-Hilaire side (Big GIVET). The gastronomic specialities are in the foreground and animations are proposed during all the day, especially on the Meuse.


* PAINTERS IN THE TOWN

Every year, the 2nd week-end of July,
GIVET greets an International meeting of painters.
This unique manifestation is organised by the Tourism Office of GIVET..

* OPEN DOORS OF THE C.E.C 9e Zouaves

The commando training centre organises every year an open day. Demonstrations of military exercices, various animations (first flight, shooting, simulations, etc ...) are proposed. Traditionaly, the evening before this day is dedicated to a costumate retrospective of the military history of GIVET, then to the shoot of a fireworks on the elevations of the Charlemont fortress.
